Hello everyone, I'm back! That was a long hiatus. But the Oscars are too glitzy to be missed. Especially when the ladies looked amazingly gorgeous, dewy skin, flowing gowns and dazzling smiles.
Blondes in Red
Katherine Heigl and Heidi Klum both chose eye-catching fiery blood-red for their Oscar dresses.
They looked dressed to kill, with the red nearly overshadowing their beautiful faces.
Katherine gets my vote here; doesn't she ooze Marilyn Monroe in this look? Watch out for this rising star! You almost forget she's the ditzy Izzie Stevens from Grey's Anatomy here.. Heidi reminds me of some fairy godmother or the Project Runway version of a Anna Wintour with the cape-like collar.
Diamonds, Pearls and Ivory
Renee Zellweger looks stunning in a glittering diamante strapless gown, Keri Russell rocks out in her pearly pink princess dress and Cameron Diaz poses for the cameras in her ivory-coloured dress. Picture perfect leading lady material.
Black and Strapless
Penelope Cruz and Jennifer Garner face off in similar looking black strapless dresses.
They both look gorgeous in them, the feathery bustline for Penelope's dress works well for her well-rounded tanned shoulders, and the long shoulder-duster earrings give a magical touch to her whole outfit.
I love the crinkled skirt hem on Jennifer's gown, but I'm not digging her side-swept fringe -- doesn't look very award-show hairdo to me.
Laura Linney and Lisa Rinna opted for the safe, black gown option, but looked nothing less than dignified and decidedly formal in them.
We're Preggers But We Still Look Damn Hot
It's preggers season! Cate Blanchett, Jessica Alba (with Cash Warren) and Nicole Kidman (with Keith Urban) look blissfully and glowingly gorgeous. Jessica looks much better with more meat around her arms, I think. And happiness is a great boost to a stunning photo moment. I love Cate's silky purple dress!
Toga Goddesses
Hilary Swank, Anne Hathaway, Amy Ryan and Olivia Thirlby all decked in their one-shoulderd gowns.
Anne came up tops with her bold choice of colour and the beautiful detail around the shoulder.
Summer's over...but that doesn't mean that the fun stops here. Even as we pick up our books to go back to school, there are many great things to look forward..especially when it comes to rockin the hallways in style!
Colored jeans!
Let's chase away the denim blues and welcome all the colors in the rainbow!
Red, canary yellow, teal, lilac purple, tangerine and light gray...there's something for everyone!
Jumper dresses!
So cute and girlish for a school-uniform-ish look with a trendy twist and a splash of sass!
Patent flats!
I personally don't like my shoes to be glossy shiny, but what the heck if they look so good with skinny jeans.
Purple eyeshadow!
A prelude to fall's most dominant color (of all time)... we welcome back this royal shade of color by dusting it on our eyelids.
Trend No-Nos
Short wedges (meaning the wedge height is shorter than 2 inches)
Unless you're tall like Gemma Ward, it'll just make you even shorter instead of adding height to your frame.
I can't help but post this picture. They are simply too hot. They're like the UK version of Brangelina, Posh and Becks. David and Victoria are hawt, gorgeous and waaay bad, and, what's more they're invading the sacred land of Hollywood! Yay, this means we'll see more of them and their tabloid action. Whatever it is, these are two people who really deserve each other.
Just LOOK at that sizzling double stare, right atcha baby...ooh!
Read the whole article in the latest issue of W magazine here.
Wow. We thought we'd never see this day. The day Spice Girls reunite for yet some more spice love and genuinely good and catchy pop songs that do not grate on my poor fatigued ears.
I think the Spice Girls need a little reshuffling of their alter Spice ego names... Victoria Becks looks like a dominatrix in her leather skinny pants getup -- she should be the new Scary Spice instead, considering her waist looks 17 inches thin. Mel C looks refreshingly gorgeous with her new bangs and her full (less muscular) physique, she should be the new Posh Spice. Mel B's so toned -- maybe it's all the post-baby workout she's been doing? -- she could very well be the new Sporty Spice. And boy oh boy, Geri looks so sweet (and not to mention out of place) in her tiered floral dress...so adorable she oughta be Baby Spice. And last but not least, has Emma looked more voluptuous than ever? So sizzling hot that Miss Bunton has to , without a doubt, take over the sexy Ginger Spice role.
What can I say? As a true-blue Spice fan, I really hope they'll come together to make some new music besides all the concerts they are hosting, and not just having a few singalong world tours to earn some spending money before going into hiding, I mean "retirement", again. Spice love!
Justin Timberlake. Broken up with Hollywood princess Cameron Diaz.
Beyonce. Happily attached (and rumored to be engaged) to Jay Z.
Shakira. Engaged to Antonio De la Rua, son of Argentina's president.
Maroon 5. Five talented hot rockstars who couldn't have enough of their fair share of girls crazy over them.
What do these singers have in common?
They are all topping the charts worldwide with songs full of spurned lovers filled with vengeance and bitterness.
Hearing from Justin first with What Goes Around Comes Around (I wonder which of his many lovers he's referring to though), he goes:
Is this the way it's really going down?
Is this how we say goodbye?
Should've known better when you came around
That you were gonna make me cry
It's breaking my heart to watch you run around
'Cause I know that you're living a lie
That's okay baby 'cause in time you will find
My favorite part of the song, which JT sings with such hurtful spite dripping in his voice...it sounds real, it makes your blood boil for him.
Don't want to think about it
Don't want to talk about it
I'm just so sick about it
Can't believe it's ending this way
Just so confused about it
Feeling the blues about it
I just can't do without ya
Tell me is this fair?
It's a brilliant collaboration, Beyonce and Shakira. Singing about a Beautiful Liar.
These two happily attached and going-to-live-happily-ever after hiphop diva and latin princess dish out some worthy advice for all the ladies out there...especially when it comes to a gorgeous man who treats love as a round of poker.
Let's not kill the karma
Ay, Let's not start a fight
Ay, It's not worth the drama
For a beautiful liar
Oh, Did he laugh about it
Oh, It's not worth our time
Oh, We can live without 'em
Just a beautiful liar
Maroon 5 sweeps the music world off its feet again with their latest hit single, Makes Me Wonder.
They don't believe in letting people read between the lines.
I still don't have the reason
And you don't have the time
And it really makes me wonder
If I ever gave a fuck about you
And I...and so this is goodbye
And the chorus just says it all:
Give me something to believe in
Cause I don't believe in you anymore
I wonder if it even makes a difference,
It even makes a difference to try
And it's over, hurt the feeling
But I don't believe it's true anymore
Anymore
I wonder if it even makes a difference to cry
So this is goodbye
So at the end of the day, people still love songs that spit at cheaters, liars, hypocrites and all the anti-lovers. And these songs allow us to go through the cathartic experience of telling those we met in our life, when we're singing at the top of our lungs in the shower.
The pink carpet always has this goofy, cheery, laidback yet glamorous feel as compared to the royal red. Cameron rocks her Californian tan again in a mini black number. Love her silver pumps. Understated and sweet.
Jessica wants people to take her as a serious actress. Then don't wear a bright red dress (with black peep-toe sandals??!#%&) on the PINK carpet, unless you are Nicole Kidman or Heidi Klum!!
Poor Paris's going to be wearing a lot of orange for the next few weeks. So she's embracing her love for the black altogether, and looking for once very much like a lady.
Victoria is one lady who wears orange ALL YEAR ROUND, on her skin! Her fashion sense is impeccable, great choice of zebra print...but can she do something about that platinum mop on her head?
Only the princess of Laguna Beach can get away with full-length white without looking like a bride. Beautiful beyond words. This is what happens when you intern at Teen Vogue. Go Conrad!
Team Lauren says Eww. I don't like them, but somehow they look soo cute together. Like Barbie and Ken gone terribly wrong. They are better off married to each other.
Little Man's star Brittany Daniel...where have we seen this blondie before? Yes, she's Jessica Wakefield back in the glorious Sweet Valley days. I can't believe she's all grown up. No, just kidding, in fact she looks exactly the same. How is it that she never grows old...not even a teeny bit?
No red carpet is ever complete without the ultimate Hollywood couple of the century.
Golden Pitt and Jolie bedazzles in inky black at the Mighty Heart premiere, and instantly ups the glam factor a notch with their royal presence.
Men in dinner jackets never fail to look immaculately handsome.
Brad looks a little pissed there...I can't blame him. Without the best accessory any man can have (note: Angelina), he appears much more frumpy-wrinkly beside a mature, charming Clooney and a fair, baby-faced Damon.
What are models doing at a film festival? They sure bring down the average dress size on the red carpet...but still can't look as hot as bonafide actresses.
Post-O.C Mischa throws a sultry gaze over her razor-sharp shoulders with a well-practised ready-for-the-cameras smile. As Neutrogena's spokesperson, her skin's radiantly flawless..as always.
Black and white is always in, be it after sundown or when the sun is shining. Love the kohl-lined eyes and bronze-tanned shoulders Ziyi Zhang's sporting, must have caught a lot of sunshine in Cannes...
Chloe Sevigny looks tres chic in a high-waisted black mini and billowing white blouse...Jake Gyllenhaal makes for fabulous arm accessory.
Just ahead, a little better... Cute gas stations ads?
BP's new advertisement is so cutesy, you wish you could reach into the video and pinch the lil cherubic children on their cheeks! The song is Say Hey by Message of The Blues. You can download it here.
There's quite a few videos available on Youtube to watch..they are all the same series.
What's IN and OUT this sizzling summer!
IN
Short nails, peachy, ocean and bright tones for polish
(think strawberry kisses, pacific blue and tangerine orange)
Bandeau-style bikinis in hot pinks, forest greens and deep blues
(think Cameron Diaz)
Straw hats on the beach
Breezy dresses
Barefeet
OUT
Long nails, and dark reds and black for polish
Swimsuits that hide what your mama gave you
Caps with the netted part at the back and shiny gangsta letters on the front (ugh)
Skintight I-can't-breathe dresses
(think Lindsay Lohan's rainbow band dress)
Boots
I really, really like Keira Knightley.
I admit, it has something to do with her role as Elizabeth Swann in the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, and that she's one of the few actresses today that defends the all-natural svelte size-zero, albeit frighteningly skeletal, female body fiercely, without giving in to the anorexia accusations.
Keira-esque idiosyncracies, like her trademark pout and the way she tilts her chin out when she poses on the red carpet make her all the more unique and adorable... she's nothing like the other rising starlets, with a mere 22 years of age, she's in a league of her own...great movies under her belt and having starred with various amazing actors Clive Owens, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant and Jonathan Rhys Meyers; and with Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Bill Nighy and Liam Neeson at least twice. I also love the fact that she looks uncannily like Natalie Portman in some angles...and she's Natalie's Decoy Queen in the Star Wars series.
You can say I'm nearly living my life vicariously through Keira...especially with this Vogue photoshoot in KENYA! Africa's wilderness scenery rocks the animal-print socks off any fashionista who ain't afraid of getting her boots dirty.
The Chronicles of Keira
(cool spreads in Vogue)
Peace!
